Poster Analysis 1 - "American Sniper"

Below I have analysed the film poster for "American Sniper", a war drama, to see what conventions the poster has. As this is the first one I'm looking at I will make a note of anything that I feel might be typical.

The conventions I found in this poster are the main actors' names, a dominant central image featuring the film's star, mise-en-scene associated with genre, a tag line, the film title which is the largest text on the poster, billing/credits, a release date, the name of the director and production company logos.

For my next poster I am going to analyse a film from a completely different genre, "Kubo and the Two Strings" (an animated adventure film) to see if it contains some of the same design and layout conventions.
