Poster Billing

To make my poster appear more authentic, I have done research into who would be my cast and have created my own billing. The font used for billing is steel tong, which I downloaded then created a file in photoshop to start making my billing. As the shorthand for steel tong is rather complex I used a guide to help me.

Here is the first draft on my billing:

Chosen Magazine Font

Here below is the font I have chosen to use for my magazine cover. I have not yet decided whether or not I want the background to be white and the title black or vice versa black background with a white title so here are examples of both.

Potential Magazine Names

As I have now chosen what type of magazine I am going to do, I have to come up with a number of potential names that are suitable.

Here below are a few potential magazine names:

Noir: This is a good name for my magazine as it is specifically for audiences who like noir.

Twisted: I think this is a suitable name for my magazine as the film genres it includes often have a twist in the narrative.

Dark Watch: This name is suitable as the genres the magazine are including often have a darker narrative and are occasionally in black and white.

Dark Corner: Again I think this name is appropriate as it suggests that the magazine contains films with a dangerous and twisted narrative often in black and and white.

Dark Pages: Like the other names this indicates to audiences that the content in the magazine contains films with a similar narrative to noir films, which is my target audience.

Dark Interests: Similar to the other potential names, the word "dark" suggests to audiences that the films reviewed will either be in black and white or contain elements of "Noir".

Potential Magazine Front Cover and Poster Images

As I am doing a "Noir" magazine special, I have decided that I want my central protagonist to look like a classic noir character. To do this I had to get my actor to dress in 1940's style with 1940's hair and make-up as I want my magazine to look authentic and specific to an audience that would respond to "Noir" elements.

Potential Magazine Front Cover Layout

Before I start designing my magazine front cover, I need to sketch out various possible layouts. After looking at a number of different Independent magazine front covers, I have found different conventions and will include them in my own magazine front cover, to make it appear more authentic.

Potential Poster Layout

Now that I have chosen what genre my film belongs to, I can start designing my poster, but before doing that I need to sketch a number of possible layouts. Having looked at various poster from the "Noir" genre I have been able to include some of the conventions I found.
